What most people overlook--a kitschy toy displayed in a shop window, a woeful dog left alone in a car, a lonely soul on the streets of Reno--is what I capture in my photography. A fleeting moment becomes a small-scale drama, a vignette that takes on deeper meaning as that moment is isolated and elevated. Suddenly the discounted scene becomes a story that evokes curiosity and wonderment.
With conventional photography or through the historical process of Wet Plate Collodion photography, I use the camera to strip away the veneer that most of us wear, and to see the beauty in the everyday. I tell stories of misfits, dreamers, romantics, and the forgotten.
